1.      What is the SYSTEMS-BUILT ADVANTAGE

  • ·         Constructed in a controlled factory environment to the same building codes as traditional site-built housing,

  • ·         Increased construction efficiency,

2.      What should I be asking by Builder? 

  • ·         First – are you working with a Builder – or a retailer that only sells homes and know nothing of construction?
  • ·         Am I required to acquire the building permits – or you?  (Beware if you’re asked to get permits – the builder is limiting his responsibility)
  • ·         How long have you been in business and how many homes have you constructed, not sold?
  • ·         Are you willing to provide a homeowner list of the last five (5) projects you’ve completed?
  • ·         Will by project be assigned a project supervisor for the construction job?
  • ·         Who will actually be working on my project?  Are they experienced local employees with whom I’ll see and interact after the completion – or subcontractors from elsewhere that I’ll never see again?
  • ·         Is your company fully insured with Workmen’s Compensation Insurance and Liability Insurance? (Always verify this information by calling the agency.  A copy of an insurance certificate does not let you know if the policy is still current.  Even if the certificate has an expiration date, you cannot tell if the insurance has been cancelled by either party.)
  • ·         May I have a list of business referrals and suppliers?
  • ·         What percentage of your business is repeat or referral business?

3.)   Can I customize my home?

Yes -
All of our plans can be customized.  At CHESAPEAKE HOMES, we invite you to sit with our designer and create the plan that fits your budget and lifestyle.  With computer technology, we can show you what you home will look like before it’s built.

4.)   Will by home be code-compliant?

 

Yes All local codes are met and typically exceeded, starting with the footings we construct with our own crews and continuing through the total process.  Likewise, the home is inspected approximately 300 times during construction.

 

5.)  Is financing a problem with modular homes?

 

Absolutely not we’ve found that all CHESAPEAKE HOMES qualify for any mortgage program available to stick-built homes. 

 

6.)  Can I finish part of the home myself?

Sure - CHESAPEAKE HOMES offers a BUYER-ASSISTED program if you desire to complete a portion of the work yourself.   This can be explained in detail by contacting our office.

7.)  Who services my home after completion?

All of our service work is attended to by our in-house service crew from fully stocked service vehicles, warehouse, and by trained personnel.  This expedites repairs and you only have to deal with the CONTRACTOR, not the manufacturer.
